Once rooted in the misty forests of the Pacific Northwest, now wandering the old stones of the Spanish capital, I’m drawn to those spontaneous moments that reveal something unexpected in everyday life: the interesting, beautiful, and unbelievable hiding in plain sight.
Working primarily in candid photography, I fill the frame with scenes that capture not just what I see, but the feeling of being there. I travel and visit incredible places because I’m curious; I like to explore. Photography comes along, and my eye is always searching the cracks and margins for inspiration.
I shoot both digital and film, in color and black and white, often letting the film stock dictate the mood of the work. My images lean toward the surreal, favoring soft, emotive tones over sharp realism: cool and warm colors that reflect the emotional landscape of a place.
Sometimes I lose the shot. I’d rather be there than capture it. The photographs I keep are the ones that bring me back.
